Law School Competition

589816_low.jpgGiven that a fully online mediation requires no meetings in person, our online mediation platform is an ideal facility for role-play training in negotiation, arbitration and mediation.

Our fully accredited distance training course makes full use of the software by providing all participating mediators, after the reading and Q&A course sections, with a role-play case in which to act as the mediator

In 2008 we launched the first International Law School Negotiating and Mediation Competition for law schools worldwide. This has attracted teams from law schools in the USA, Australia, Japan, Columbia, Argentina, UK and Ireland. The teams represent virtual 'clients' in a fictional dispute. The case is opened on our platform on which the teams take instructions from the 'client', negotiate with the opposing team and ,if necessary, enter into a mediation. Further details on the competition site can be seen here.

The competition takes place online with each match run in a dedicated webfile using our bespoke software. Each team can include not only the negotiating members (usually 3 or 4) but an unlimited number of fellow students to follow negotiations and post suggestions in a private team area. The enrolment fee (300GBP) will include a licence for the school to run three additional online casefiles to use afterwards, as a training tool or for ad hoc matches with other law schools.

"I'm finding this an incredibly rich learning experience for the students."
Linda Jurevic, Lecturer in Law, Murdoch University, Perth, Australia
